Welcome to Alston Street Studio, home to the varied creations of one armed pirate illustrator and designer Justin Horne. Me? Oh, Um. Born in Rhodesia. (look it up) Grew up in Johannesburg, SA. Moved to Glasgow after the nasty locals shot me for my car. No, really. Hence my one arm. The name of the studio originated from the story of a ghost of a street that resides beneath Glasgow Central Station. Pretty frikken awesome. Well I thought so too. The story goes that the suburb of Grahamston with its solitary street, Alston, was cleared away to make room for the station. Hardcore city council. Its rumoured that the central train line follows the route of old Alston Street keeping the ghost street alive. By using the name Alston Street I thought it would be a unique way to keep the street alive as if it was still a working part of the city, not a ghost beneath the rails, plus a cool backstory thrown in.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my vintage inspired creations, and I look forward to hearing from you.
